Parking Restrictions

Parking Restrictions

Overnight on-street parking
The Oakley Place documents prohibit overnight on-street parking. 'Overnight' is defined as being between the hours of 1 a.m. to 5 a.m., 7 days a week. Vehicles may not be parked on the street at any time between those hours unless a parking permit has been issued (click here or see the bottom of this page).

There is a 3 violation policy within any 6 week period for vehicles parked on-street overnight:

Parking on Lawns
Cars, trucks, motorcycles, golf carts or other vehicles may not be parked on lawns (either partially or with all 4 wheels on the grass), including the median between the road and the sidewalk other than any reasonable time needed to load/unload yard or construction materials.

Legal counsel has confirmed that the governing documents permit offending vehicles to be towed from a private yard.

Only ONE violation notice will be issued stating that the offending vehicle is subject to immediate tow and/or fining of $100 per occurrence.  A second warning notice will not be issued.   * see below

Commercial Vehicles
The Association documents expressly prohibit the parking of commercial vehicles in the community at any time, with the exception of those vehicles belonging to contractors attending homes for property service and maintenance.

Commercial vehicles must be parked out of sight inside the garage.

Commercial vehicles are considered to be vehicles with commercial signage of any description, work trucks, trucks with ladder racks (whether or not there are ladders present).

Only ONE violation notice will be issued. A second warning notice will not be issued and the matter will go straight to violation with a potential fine of $100 per occurence.

Other prohibited vehicles

Boats, trailers, campers, RV's and other recreational vehicles may not be parked anywhere in Oakley Place overnight under any circumstances.  They may be parked during daylight hours for loading and unloading but may only remain on-site for a maximum of 3 hours and for no more than 2 days out of any 7 days.  Owners may apply for a parking permit (see below) in exceptional circumstances.   Only ONE violation notice will be issued. A second warning notice will not be issued and the matter will go straight to a violation with a potential fine of $100 per occurrence.

Exceptions
Law enforcement and first responder vehicles may be parked on the street overnight with appropriate attention given to safety and careful positioning.  However, they may not be parked on lawns.

Overnight on-street parking restrictions are relaxed for the following major holidays:-
Easter  (Fri/Sat-Mon/Tue night)
Memorial Day (Fri/Sat-Mon/Tue night)
Independence Day (3rd/4th-5th/6th)
Labor Day (Fri/Sat-Mon/Tue night)
Thanksgiving (Tue/Wed - Mon/Tue night)
Christmas and New Year (AM Dec 20th through AM Jan 3rd).

Parking restrictions regarding parking on lawns, commercial vehicles and recreational vehicles ARE NOT relaxed or suspended during these time periods and remain in force 24/7/365.

Parking Permit Requests
Residents in good standing with the HOA (Association account is current) may request a special overnight on-street parking permit to accommodate unusual overflow parking such as guests staying for a period of time. This must be requested in advance with at least 48 hours notice.  See the request form at the bottom of this page. If approved, a permit will be issued for display on the dashboard of the vehicle that is to be parked on the street.

The Association reserves the right to deny the application if another nearby resident has already been granted a permit for overnight parking.  A permit may be denied if the resident has made excessive use of the overnight permit system.  For lots that are not in good standing, special parking permits will not be issued.

* Towing Authority

At a duly noticed Board Meeting held on August 3rd, 2016, the Oakley Place Board re-affirmed a resolution giving the Association the authority to have vehicles towed that are parked on lawns at ANY time.  This policy may be changed at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
