As you will know, there is a lot of development going on in and around our area and traffic on 60th Ave E is becoming increasingly congested.
As residents, we must make our concerns heard by Manatee County and they shouldn't be approving any further developments until the infrastructure catches up. We understand the at 60th Ave E is to be widened but details are unclear at this time.

ACT NOW TO PROTECT YOUR COMMUNITY
The issue
There is unrelenting pressure from developers to build more and more housing in our area while Manatee County has utterly FAILED to upgrade the existing road infrastructure to cope with all these new developments.
· The recent developments of Silverstone North, Silverstone South and Willow Walk have added 1,804 single family units.
· Marwood (single family) and Palm Grove (apartments) are currently under construction and will add 418 units.
· A proposed apartment development on Factory Shops Blvd (so much for the movie theater) will add 235 units
· Medallion Homes is working on a potential development of over 1,000 new apartments on Mendoza Road west of I75 (the old Turner Tree farm).
These developments alone will TRIPLE the number of residential units off of 60th Ave E compared to the original communities.
We have now been made aware of a development north of Tuscany Lakes and West of Covered Bridge Estates due to start this summer that proposes another 1,700 rental units in 7 story buildings.
Additionally, 60th Ave E will be extended to join with Buffalo Rd and will create access to US301 via 60th Ave E for communities to the north of us including Trevesta (908 single family homes).
The 2 lanes of 60th Ave E are not capable of handling
this amount of traffic without creating huge gridlock.
Plan of Action
1. SIGN the petition, either the paper one or the one on Change.org - fast link https://bit.ly/60thAveE
2. CONTACT the County Commissioners (see above page) to voice your opposition but PLEASE BE POLITE.
Talking points are:
a. The huge recent increase in residential units in our area over the past few years
b. The number of proposed / in progress developments (3,300+ units). Assuming 2 cars per family, that’s 6,600 more cars!
c. The current traffic backlogs on 60th Ave E
d. The inability of 60th Ave E to handle the proposed new developments and potential traffic from the Buffalo Rd connection
e. The lack of entertainment and recreation facilities in this area, including parks and outdoor areas
3. ATTEND the Land Use Meeting at 1.30pm, THIS THURSDAY, February 16th at the Manatee County Administration Building, 1112 manatee Ave W, Bradenton, FL 34205 (the Honorable Patricia M Glass Chambers).
4. TALK with your neighbors and make sure they are aware of this development. If we do not make our voices heard, we are going to be living with the results forever!
This graphic shows the communities that directly feed into 60th Ave E.
The red outline is the area where 1,700 new apartments are proposed and where 60th Ave E will be extended to meet Buffalo Road.
Blue (and yellow for Oakley Place) are the original communities before recent developments.
Green communities are the newer (round) and proposed developments (rectangular).
Other communities such as Oakleaf Hammock (544 homes) and the many proposed developments off Ellenton-Gilette are not included.
